YOUR FAVOURITE SELF

Who is it?

I saw somewhere last week, a post that read,

'Go be your favourite self.'

I thought about it and I resonated with it instantly.

We are so used to hearing and seeing, ‘Go be your best self’ or ‘go be your highest self.’

But favourite self? That leaves room for you to be you, without the pressure. You get to be who you want to be in every single moment, not what or who anyone else wants you to be.

And you know how the universe just seems to work in mysterious ways sometimes? I also happened to listen to a very inspiring Pursuit of Bliss podcast that same week while driving home from work where Kristen Jenna said, “I don’t need to be anyone but the version of me who brings me joy in this present moment.”

“I don’t need to be anyone but the version of me who brings me joy in this present moment.”

Wow, I thought. She’s right. Am in spending too much time trying to be a version of me that I don’t even align with because it’s not me? Am I wasting my time trying to be who I think I have to be in order to succeed in life? And be liked and respected?

Maybe I do just need to be the version of me who brings me the most joy which is my favourite self.

So when I got home that day, I did some journaling. A few days prior to this I had actually expressed in my journal who my highest self is and what she looks like. Underneath those writings, I started a new paragraph and wrote about who my favourite self is and what she looks like. And you know what? They looked different. Some things overlapped of course, but I found when I looked at them that my highest self is more business driven whereas my favourite self looks more like me as I am every day, right now.

It looked something like this:

My highest self // ‘…She loves to help others. She’s everyone’s hype girl. She is confident. She makes an impact…’

My favourite self // ‘…She loves hard. She’s kind to others. She is strong and confident in her own way. She makes others smile…’

Don’t get me wrong, being your best or highest self is great and so, so amazing.

I encourage you to write out who your highest self is and who your favourite self is and what they look like and see which one you align more with.

You don’t need to be anyone other than who you are.

Go be whichever self you like! xx
